The Council is setting up a new forum for people who use adult social care services, as part of the People First (or Personalisation) Programme.

As you may know, People First is bringing about big changes to the way the Council arrange and pay for the support services people need. Instead of the Council organising services on customers’ behalf, they are now giving people a personal budget to make their own arrangements. It’s all about offering more freedom of choice and more control. But if people prefer to keep the same services as before, they are free to do so.

To make sure the new system works well, the Council need to involve people who use their services in thinking about the changes and ask them what would work best and what needs to improve. One way RBKC can do this is by linking with existing user groups in the borough, including K&C LINk. A second way will be through their new Service User Board for People First.

K&C LINk would now like to invite LINk members to act as authorised representatives on the Service User Board and hope you will be interested in participating. The first meeting of the Board will be on March 29th at 11.30am. Meetings of the Service User Board will then be held 6-8 weekly at Kensington Town Hall.

If you would like to represent K&C LINk on this new Board, please contact Paula in the K&C LINk office on rbkclink@hestia.org or ph: 020 8968 7049. Please note we are looking for three representatives so places are limited. We look forward to hearing from you!
