“The New Year has seen reports that the Government’s strategy to address dementia is not living up to expectations. A new report by the National Audit office reveals that –despite the £8bn earmarked annually for dementia care, outcomes are not improving because the condition is not (unlike heart disease and cancer) a designated priority.

Proposals to cut Britain’s deficit will inevitably place the NHS under even more pressure. In this climate, it’s important that clinicians and managers hear directly from patients. What priorities do you think NHS resources should follow? As the population ages what’s the right balance between long term palliative care and treatment for other chronic conditions?”
