Sharing Good Practice between Hosts - 1. Collecting community views
Dear LINk Hosts,
I think it would be really great if we all got in the habit of sharing ideas that have worked well. We could do something different each month.
I thought we could start with 'effective out-reach activities/ collecting community views'. If you would be interested in sharing ideas with other hosts, let us know. Really its just a way of sharing successes.
A couple of things that worked for us in Islington:
1 - We had a really good quantity of comment forms completed at our Annual Fair. We doubled the number from last year by entering everyone that submitted a comment based on their experience in the last 12 months in to a raffle and the first people picked out of the hat got a £10 shopping voucher. People got really excited about it.
2 - LINk Ambassadors. We have trained up some members to be 'LINk Ambassadors'. It was a half day session and taught people about the basics of the LINk and how to present its work, and about how to ask open questions to the public and listen effectively to their answers. So now we have a team of confident volunteers that we can call on when we (Host) are doing out-reach.
If some of you, as Hosts, are keen to get this going, send me your ideas for collecting community views and any suggestions for future themes. If it works amongst the London hosts we could start asking others around the country to share ideas too.
