You will use the NHS more than 2,000 times in your life
A study recently quoted by the Department of Health showed that individuals in England will, on average, have 2,153 experiences with the NHS across their lifetime. The startling figures reveal some interesting facts about how we interact with our health services during the course of our lives. On average, an individual will have 948 prescriptions dispensed; visit their GP 326 times, be admitted to hospital 99 times and have 10 ambulance journey's.
Whilst it is enlightening to understand these interactions with our health services, it is startling to think that only 22% of us have spoken out on how all of these services could better suit our needs! The study did however show that more of us would like to get involved, if we felt there was an easy and accommodating way for us to be heard.
The K&C LINk, your Local Involvement Network, exists to give you a stronger voice in how your local health and social care services are delivered.
