Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is a LINk?
A Local Involvement Network (LINk) has been set up in every area of England to help people influence or change the way their local health and social care services are delivered.
2. Who can join the LINk?
Anyone! This includes individuals, carers, service users, community leaders, patient representatives, local groups and organisations.
3. How does the LINk differ from other community engagement mechanisms in the Royal Borough?
The LINk is independent and works with you to take action, investigate community concerns and find solutions. The LINk operates as a "network of networks" bringing together consultative fora, local people, groups and organisations to improve the way local health and social care services are delivered.
4. Why should I join K&C LINk?
By joining K&C LINk you can make a difference to the services you receive now and/or in the future. Join us now to make your services meet your needs.
5. What does online registration mean?
This option is open to anyone, anywhere, with an interest in our work. Registration means you can leave comments on our website and receive K&C LINk updates, including our e-bulletin. If you live and/or work locally, we will then contact you to explore your interests and concerns.
6. What is K&C LINk working on?
K&C LINk is a user led organisation so our members, you, decide our work plan for the year. Work is prioritised based on the concerns of the community and the difference we can make as the LINk. We work across the health and social care services locally.
7. How does K&C LINk work with health and social care services?
K&C LINk meet with local health and social care representatives on a monthly basis to discuss the concerns and priorities of our members. We also have representatives on strategic committees for example the Health Scrutiny Committee and the Community Equality and Inclusivity Partnership so we can influence the decision making process. K&C LINk are also working with the local health trusts, the NHS, RBKC and the Care Quality Commission to ensure the community play an active role in the quality of services received.
8. What is the Host?
K&C LINk is supported by a host organisation called Hestia. Hestia is a housing and support organisation that aims to meet the needs and aspirations of the most vulnerable people in our society, enabling them to live independently and take control of their lives.
In Kensington and Chelsea, three Hestia staff members, Paula Murphy, Co-ordinator, Simmone Hall, Administator & Wendy Phillips, Development Officer, support and facilitate the work of the LINk.
