The Work of the K&C LINk
The work of the K&C LINk is based on the needs and interests of our members. Priorities are decided upon by the members based on the evidence available, the experiences of the community and the impact the LINk can make with available resources.
Please note the LINk cannot deal with individual issues. We always try to sign-post people to other services wherever possible. We also track issues so we can identify trends quickly and discuss them at the Management Group meeting.
Examples of 2010-2011 sub-group priorities include:
- Mental health – Access to services including complementary therapies, communicating the Mental Health Act, ‘Easy to Ignore’ Groups
- 2011: Service User Standards and Substance Mis-use
- Cancer – Early screening services including Cancer Screening Ambassadors
- 2011: Hospital Discharge
- Older People – Nutrition, Safeguarding, K&C LINk Dignity Champions, Dementia and End of Life.
- 2011: Dignity Champions and Hospital Discharge
- Physical disability – Access to GPs
- 2011: Access to Dentists
We also work on regional and/or national issues of interest to our members, for example:
- Home-care services for older Londoners
- Green paper for Social Care “Shaping the Future of Care Together”
- Age Equality: K&CLINkFORUMFinalResponse100210
- Personal Budgets: K&C Focus Group Flyer 24.01.2011
- K&C LINk Response to the White Paper
- K&C LINk/NHS K&C Response to Increasing Democratic Legitimacy in Health
