The LINk Mental Health Sub-group aims to provide a voice and a support structure for service users, family members, carers and stakeholders as a means of enhancing the provision of mental health service delivery locally. The group meets every three months and over the last three years has engaged on projects including community services, the re-development of the crisis card with Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (further to our users feedback) and the outcomes achieved by the local befriending scheme.
Service User Led Standards (SULS) project:
The Mental Health Sub-group has identified Service User Led Standards as one of its priority areas for 2011/2. The standards aim to ensure a consistent approach to quality across local mental health services and will look more at the behavioural aspect of how a service is delivered rather than what service is delivered. LINk members are currently meeting with service users to finalise the standards and framework.
Central and North West London Mental Health NHS Trust:
The K&C LINk mental health sub-group has also been working cross-borough with other LINks to discuss and meet with CNWL regarding the re-configuration of services and their consultation process.
Mulberry Ward Pilot Closure:
K&C LINk along with K&C MIND, SMART and Advocacy for Mental Health have been meeting with CNWL to discuss the plans and raise service users’ concerns about the pilot closure of Mulberry North Ward at South Kensington & Chelsea (K&C) Mental Health Centre.
We are working on engaging ‘easy to ignore’ groups where there tends to be a higher incidence of mental health need and have training peer researchers to assess for dignity in services. Read our findings on the experiences of domestic violence survivors here.
